Choose a concept that represents an area/problem of interest to you in your clinical practice. In the introduction, explain why it is important for you to look at this concept in depth.
Literature Review: (Definitions and Uses)
Provide at least five definitions of the concept found in the literature (Do not use Wikepedia.com). Include a variety of sources, including standard dictionaries, medical/Nursing dictionaries, use in other disciplines, websites (such as sociology, historical, psychology, research, etc.)
NOTE: If your concept consists of two words, provide definitions reflecting both words, but not the definition of each word.
Bad example for definition of a concept consisted of more than one word:
Concept is dying with dignity, and a student presents the definition of the two words separately.
Dying is defined as approaching death (Reference).
Dignity is defined as sense of calm, self-possession and self-respect. (Reference).
Dying with dignity is defined as approaching death with a sense of calm, self-possession and self-respect. (Reference).
Related Concept – Identify at least one related concept.
(For example: If concept is adherence-a related concept could be compliance.)
Defining Attributes (Common threads/themes derived from the definitions in literature review)
List, define, and discuss the defining (clustering) attributes found in the literature. (Attributes that definitely confirm the existence of this concept). Be very specific and precise. The critical attributes should be supported by the content of your literature review above. Remember that the defining attributes are what make the concept unique and identifiable

Consequences: Consequences are the events or incidents that occur as a result of the occurrence of the concept; in other words, the outcome of the concept.
Identify and discuss all of the consequences of your concept found in the literature.
Define empirical referents:
Identify and discuss any instruments used to measure the concept.
Implications for nursing:
Discuss how the concept is used or could be used in advanced practice, education, or administration.
APA Format & Grammar:
APA format is required for this paper. Remember, this is a formal paper that should flow from section to section. Paper should be no more than 10 pages excluding references and title page. References should be adequate and up to date. Appropriate grammar and spelling should be used.
