I’m working on a nutrition discussion question and need a sample draft to help me learn.
1. Attach a pdf copy of the media piece or provide an URL for the media piece that was published no earlier than May 2018. Please note that what is being critiqued is a nutrition-related media piece, rather than a peer-review article published in a scientific journal. In addition, please do not select articles published by government agencies (eg, CDC), universities (eg. Harvard), institutions (eg. Mayo Clinic), or professional organizations (eg. Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) with the aim to educate the public.
2. Provide the following information of the media piece:
b. Author (including credential and affiliation if available)
c. Name of the media source where the piece was published
d. Time of Publication (should be no earlier than May 2018)
3. Apply what you have learned in this course to critique the chosen media piece. Your critique must go beyond checking out the author’s background or credentials. Your critique should include the following aspects:
a. Strength of the media piece
b. Weakness of the media piece
c. Is the nutrition information presented in the media piece evidence-based? Make sure to elaborate on your rationale.
d. Why did you choose this media piece? What did you learn from reading it?
e. What do you thinking of the writing? Why?
4. Imagine a friend of yours from High School who is in a major in College of Liberal & Arts read this media piece and ask about your expert opinion, what would you tell your friend? Provide a script of your response to your friend, in no less than 100 words and no more than 200 words.
